Public replies
Answer comments in public with a keyword rule.
A public reply is Codm's answer posted directly under the comment, where everyone scrolling can see it. It is the simplest mode, and good for answers that help every reader: prices, sizes, delivery times.
Set it up
- Open the post (from Content or the dashboard).
- Under Handle public comments, choose Send public reply only.
- Write the reply.
- Press Save.
Which comments get the reply?
A post's reply is tied to its keywords. A new public reply answers every comment on the post. A reply that came from older keyword rules keeps its keywords, so it answers only comments that contain one of them.
Keyword matching is forgiving: price also catches PRICE??, priiice, pirce and kitna hai. The full rules are in How keywords match.
Silent rules
A rule can match and post nothing. Use this for spam words ("scam", "fake") so a bot reply never lands under them. Silent matches are still recorded, so nothing goes unseen.
You can add silent rules when you set a post up from its link (Content → search → Automate this URL, or the Automate a post by URL page). Existing silent rules are listed on the post's page under older rules.
Writing a good reply
- Answer the question in the first sentence. "It's ₹499 with free delivery" beats "Thanks for asking!"
- Point to the next step: the link in bio, your DMs, a size chart.
- Keep it short. Instagram truncates long comments.
- Emojis are fine. Your followers use them too.
Tip
Want the link sent privately instead of "link in bio"? Use a DM funnel.
Older posts with several rules
Posts set up before the current editor may have more than one keyword rule. The page lists them under older rules, and you can delete any you no longer need. Nothing is merged or deleted automatically.
